Sounds of Fire (2026-) is the final instalment of a three-part, multi-year postconceptual artwork titled
Atmospheres, which also includes
Sounds of Unridden Waves (2020-) and
Sounds of Clouds (2023-). Like earlier instalments,
Sounds of Fire comprises an original soundtrack and feature length film at the centre of an expanding assemblage of paintings and other intermedial artefacts to form an immersive scalable installation.
The soundtrack album for
Sounds of Fire is now available in various digital formats (see below). This single continuous composition consists of four movements and a short closing segment. Unlike earlier releases by
The Ghosts of Nothing, this album moves into a more extreme post-rock drone metal aesthetic, albeit lightly interwoven with fleeting filigrees of wordless vocalisation from guest artist Jiayang (Betty) Zhang. All other instrumentation is performed by The Ghosts of Nothing (
Sean Lowry and
Ilmar Taimre) with audio mastering by Don Bartley at
Benchmark Mastering. For music sync and publishing enquiries, contact Peter Paterson at
Perfect Pitch Publishing.
Stay tuned for the double vinyl album and full immersive installation, building on earlier exhibitions at
project8 gallery for
Sounds of Unridden Waves and
Sounds of Clouds, and a final destination as
Atmospheres.
